PRIMARY & POST PRIMARY: ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED & HEARING-IMPAIRED
AT for Visual, Hearing and Physical Impairments
This one day AT event will showcase the latest technologies in the areas of visual impairment, hearing impairment and physical impairment. These will include electronic magnifiers, software magnifiers, glass magnifiers, CCTV camera systems, personal loop systems for the classroom and Eye Gaze technology. The course will also cover accessibility features for the visually impaired on the Windows and Apple operating systems.
Participants can bring their Android or Apple tablet/phone but this is not a prerequisite.
About the Trainer
The course will be delivered by Mark Burleigh, who has over 10 years’ experience in teaching Assistive Technology to audiences from primary to third level education. He holds a single honours degree in Computer Science and a research master’s degree in Computer Science from University College Cork. He undertakes research in the area of assistive technology in higher education and has published papers in the field. He is also an Oracle Certified Associate in Java and has a passion for teaching technology to all levels.
A light lunch will be provided and a certificate will be given to those who complete the training.
