CREATIVITY AND CREATIVE THINKING USING LEGO
BOOK ONLINE www.wtc.ie
Creativity is not just the domain of the arts but is something that can be learnt, practiced and improved. Creativity in the classroom and the creative thinking process is about providing students with opportunities to actively think differently, generate and connect ideas, and collaborate and find meaning and solutions in exciting, engaging and innovative ways. One powerful way to do this in the classroom is by using Lego® Serious Play®.
This short two session hands-on course will introduce participants to learning with Lego® and Lego® Serious Play®; a facilitated methodology created by the Lego Group that helps to engage the brain into thinking with the hands. When we use our hands to ‘tinker’ we engage the part of the brain that generates sensory images in our minds. This helps us to work out our thoughts and ideas and develop deeper understanding.
Over the two sessions we will practice exploring hand mind connections and learning. We will look at what makes Lego® so special, the Lego® Serious Play® methodology and etiquette; and underpinning research. We will use Lego® bricks to create models that become stories and metaphors that generate new ways of exploring topics, and understanding and sharing ideas
The methodology can be easily adapted to suit Primary, Post-Primary and Further Education and Training levels.
