754 PRIMARY: VISUAL ARTS: LETS GET CREATIVE THROUGH THE LENS
Teacher-friendly and FUN! You will surprise yourself at this course, you will return to your classroom looking forward to doing art with your class! Aims of this summer course: To provide new and fresh ideas for teachers in the strands of the visual arts from infant level to 6thclass. ·Fabric and fibre, print, paint and colour, drawing, clay and construction. ·To help to understand better, the creative process that children go through in the making of art and integrating this with the rest of the curriculum. ·To demonstrate how to generate a creative atmosphere during the art class which is challenging, motivating and supportive? To help teachers develop children’s sensitivities to their visual environment and to other art works. ·To encourage teachers to promote experimentation and exploration rather than on techniques and product–based art. Sinead Walsh, the Tutor has a Bachelor of Education, Froebel College Dublin (T.C.D.) Grennan Mill Craft school (Drawing, Batik, Printing, Metalwork and Weaving) KCAT Art and Study centre studio. I have facilitated children’s arts workshops with Kilkenny Arts Festival and various art workshops in libraries around the county. I worked with ‘Katapult’ Kilkenny Arts Festival as part of outreach programme. Various artistic commissions in mosaic, in Kilkenny. Currently delivering arts programme in local schools and youth club in ‘Shadow Puppetry’. Sinead has exhibited her own artwork in Kilkenny Arts Festival 2015. I have provided teachers’ courses over the last year (2015-2016) in Christmas Art, Spring Art, Art for Holy Communion and Art for Confirmation in Waterford Teacher's Centre and Kilkenny Education Centre.
