1579 PRIMARY: MUSICAL THEATRE
This one week course is designed to help teachers feel confident in delivering elements of performance to their class and incorporating them throughout the strands. The course is given by trained musical theatre actor Conor Lyons. Conor has trained extensively in music, singing, acting and dance, and will explore ways in which to include these disciplines into the current curriculum from junior infants to sixth class. Other elements of this course include: singing technique, group singing, production workshop for school shows, dance technique, ballet and modern dance, gymnastics, health and safety, drama workshops, drama games, voice and text, general resources. Conor completed a professional dance diploma with the college of dance, while studying there I was part of the Irish national youth ballet. I went on to study Musical Theatre in Laine Theatre Arts which is the foremost training school for West-End actors and performers. While there I studied Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, Modern and Jazz in the field of dance. I studied Classical drama, Voice and text and acting for stage and screen in the field of drama. I studied classical singing, acting through song, voice technique, ensemble singing and harmony in the field of singing. I also studied gymnastics. I also studied to be a dance teacher with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance while in Laine Theatre Arts, achieving my teacher’s qualifications. I worked as a lead singer with a six star cruise company. I worked as an actor in the West-End workshopping up and coming Musical Theatre projects: Bridget Jones Diary, Matilda. I have been part of touring companies and played both lead and supporting roles in We Will Rock You, Just So, Mamma Mia, Company and others. I have worked extensively with Waterford Gymnastics both in their premises and in primary schools.
