1270 PRIMARY: ART FOR ALL
The participants will engage in this course through active hands on activities, reflective practice, collaborative shared learning discussion and participant demonstrations. This course will enable teachers to link art with literacy, numeracy and well-being. Be exposed to a genre of visual art techniques, covering all the visual arts strands and strand units. Focus on developing process to create product pieces for the classroom. There will be a variety of methodologies used throughout the course of the week that will include written activities, group and paired work, participants ideas, guided discussion, video, story, hands on approach, look and respond, listen and respond, questions and answers, reading and comprehension, sketching, Aistear, storytelling, practical demonstrations, fieldwork, higher order skills, information sheets, visual stimulus, recording, ICT, investigation, exploration, peer learning and independent work. This course promotes the use of ICT in a number of ways throughout the course of the week. One will be engaging in digital paint and colour, drawing the participant’s attention to the work of Davis Hockney, and his use of digital art as a medium. One will be recording our own work through photography as a process that can be utilised within the classroom. One will be reflecting and discussing the ICT resources available to schools and how they can be used through an open discussion forum by sharing useful websites and on-line resources.
