Workshop will not qualify you to practice music therapy, however, it will equip you with some musical techniques that can easily be used in a classroom setting. You do not need to be a musician to use these techniques. They will be demonstrated in a simplified way to make them accessible to any teacher. The techniques are applicable to both mainstream students and students with additional needs. The workshop will look at strategies for regulating children’s behaviour and emotions, as well as relaxing and grounding them. It will equip you with mindfulness-based techniques that can be adapted into their daily school life. These exercises can be done in small groups or with the whole class. These musical exercises provide children with the opportunity to learn important life skills, for example social skills etc.
