FACE TO FACE: DYSCALCULIA SERIES - Theme Mathematical Learning Difficulties Workshop #1
The first session will provide an overview of what Dyscalculia/Mathematical Learning Difficulties are, how they affect the learner and what we can do to support these learners. Subsequent sessions will focus in on specific areas of the Mathematics curriculum, both Primary and Post-Primary, offering suggestions and tips on how to engage students with Mathematical Learning Difficulties, to help make the curriculum more accessible to these students.
Tess Martin is a post primary Math teacher with almost thirty years teaching experience in various settings. She has a deep interest in those students that find Math extremely challenging and try their best to avoid the subject. She recently completed a Masters in Dyscalculia; Research and practice, is a specialised teacher for students with Mathematical Learning Difficulties and an assessor for students with Dyscalculia/Dyspraxia. She has been accepted onto an Educational Doctorate programme beginning in October 2023. She presented at ILSA’s national conference in September 2022 on the topic of Dyscalculia.
